These pictures have been taken In Tumaco, a small port of Colombia, near the border with Ecuador, during a field trip she made in the Fall of 2018 in the framework of her studies.

Tumaco is a transit point for drug trafficking and the population, mostly of African origin, strives to have a decent life.

Over there, Ema worked at the Casa de la Memoria of Tumaco, a community house where victims, mostly women, of the Columbian conflict and other form of violence come to find solace.

The Casa de la Memoria and its volunteers, mostly social workers, are gathering testimonies and try, against all odds, to foster the still fragile Columbian peace process.
